So this is the first time I'm writing my own story in the blog, pardon if my english is not good.
However, through this blog I want to share to you about my trip to taiwan (9 January-26 January 2012) so here we go!

 TAIWAN EXCHANGE

....::: Few weeks before go to Taiwan :::.....

My name is Elmer Wahyu Bramanto, still 20 years old and I'm a college student who studied at Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung, Indonesia. I joined AIESEC. Present in over 110 countries and territories and with over 60,000 members, AIESEC is the world's largest student-run organisation. Focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to be global citizens, to change the world, and to get experience and skills that matter today. So, in short I was looking  for an opportunity to go exchange and then come this beautiful country: TAIWAN. I got interviewed by Judy and she explained to me about the animal protection project which is very interesting in my opinion at first, later? another story haha. After that, they accepted me and then after a few weeks waiting, the invitation letter finally come (At that time i was so desperate because of the invitation letter and I was almost decided that I wouldn't go to Taiwan... Gosh...). Then I packed my stuff, booked my flight and go to there with many hope that I will learn a lot of experience in taiwan, very excited feeling.

.....::: Taipei, 9 January 2012 :::.....

Okay this is it. I have arrived at Taiwan about 9 pm and it took 5 hours flight to go there. Anyway, when I walk to the arrival gate at Taoyuan Airport suddenly I see 2 people bringing a big paper and my name was written in there, that was Vivian and Roger. Then, I talk to them about many things like where I should go now or what do I need to do next day and both of them explain to me very well. In my first impression, I thought that Vivian and Roger are nice person and I was right. We took the bus to go to Taipei and we talk about each other a lot, then we take the MRT to the Zongshan station and walk to my hotel. This is the photo of the hotel and our room :

When I arrived in there, I got suprised because there are two exchange participant lived there already, one from Brazil and one from Malaysia. I thought I got my own room, but the fact is I must share one room with both of them. Then, after Vivian and Roger make sure that everythings okay, they get back to their house because in that week they have an exam. So, I introduce myself to my roommate and they introduce themselves too, so let me introduce them to you:

From left to right : David, Me, Roger, CK

From left to right : Judy, Vivian, Parry

David De Ameida Pereira (David) from Brazil
Okay we have two david in here so I call him david and the other one is CK. My first impression about david, he was a nice person, open and share a lot about Brazil. He is a third year college student and take Industrial Engineering major.

Chee Keen Nge (CK) from Malaysia
This is CK, he is from Malaysia, second year college student and take Computer Science major. My first impression about CK, he's a nice person but kinda not talk too much. There's a lot similar between Indonesia and Malaysia like his face is kinda familiar and he can speak Melayu which is not too different to my language. But, the most helpful thing is he can speak chinese! So, we really need him in many days ahead because people in Taiwan mostly speak chinese only.... I will introduce the other on next day, so be patient :p

So after we introduce each other, sometimes we ask a basic question and wondering what we're gonna do tomorrow because Vivian and Roger said that tomorrow we're gonna be free because they still have the exam. So we're planning to go to Taipei 101 tomorrow :D

.....::: Taipei, 10 January 2012 :::.....

After we woke up nearly 9 a.m. , we took a shower and get ready to go out from the hotel. First thing that we wanna do: eat! So, because CK is the only one that understands chinese, we let him pick any restaurants, but with one rule: No pork! Haha. After that we're going to mrt station and take the mrt to taipei
city hall station. When we arrived there, spontaneuosly after we see that building, we just feel amazing!

Taipei 101 (Chinese: 台北101 / 臺北101), formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a landmark skyscraper located in Xinyi District,Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan). The building ranked officially as the world's tallest from 2004 until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010.So, we get in to take a closer look of this bulding and we go with the world fastest elevator to go up and guess what.. The scenery was very beautiful, we can look every bulding and part of the city. After we finished, we decided to go around again, and ck wanna go taipei expo park. In taipei expo park you can see many beautiful flower, park and building. Because, ck was love to take a photo, we just walk around and take a picture of everything in there. After we finished, we got back to our hotel.

This is some picture about taipei 101 and taipei expo park :D

.....::: Taipei, 11 January 2012 :::.....

Because today was free too (again) we don't have any plan or suggestion which place that we wanna go, but suddenly ck want to go to Taichung. Yes, Taichung (臺中; literally "Central Taiwan") is a city located in west-central Taiwan, with a population of just over 2.6 million people, making it the third largest city on the island after New Taipei and Kaohsiung. So, we decided to go there today. What's interesting in there? we don't know, just figure it out later.  So, we take a bus and it was a 2 hours trip. After we arrived in there we completely don't know which place that we wanna go, so we just take a walk around taichung until midnight. In my opinion it was a nice city, because it's not too different from taipei.

And then, after we all felt so tired we got back to taipei. Suddenly, when we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist said that there is already one man in our room and he is Parry, the other exchange participant comes from India. After we have a little chat we went to sleep because tomorrow we want to take a look at some temple. But, let me introduce him:

Parvinder Singh (Parry) from India
We call him parry, third year college student and take Mechanical Engineering major. In my first meeting with him I see that he has a big body and kinda scary face (because of his moustache and beard) but I was wrong, after I spend sometimes with him he was really nice person and he really talk much (too much sometimes haha) and very proud of his country, but he really give us some flavour. He's kinda unique, because he always wear a "turban" (something in his head, see the picture) and that just because he respects his traditions in his country, but in Taiwan, he was a superstar because people always look at him and talk about him. You already see him in that picture above. Oh.. and yes I almost forgot, he's a vegetarian.
